Sat Dec 21 11:44:32 UTC 2024: ## Former AAP MLA Dalal Joins BJP Ahead of Delhi Assembly Polls

**New Delhi:** In a significant development ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections due in February, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sukhbir Singh Dalal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday. Dalal, who represented Mundka, joined the BJP at its Delhi office alongside six-time Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee member Sardar Balbir Singh. Balbir Singh was subsequently appointed secretary of the Delhi BJP.

Dalal cited the AAP’s failure to deliver on its promises, specifically criticizing the lack of progress on a promised sports university project despite his efforts as an MLA. He accused the AAP of deviating from its anti-corruption agenda and praised the BJP’s work in Delhi’s rural areas.

BJP Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva echoed these criticisms, highlighting the apparent lack of progress on the sports university despite allocated funds. He contrasted this with the BJP’s commitment to completing projects initiated by the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sachdeva lauded both Dalal and Balbir Singh for their influence within Delhi’s Punjabi and rural communities.

Union Minister Harsh Malhotra further attacked the AAP government for failing to meet its promises, suggesting that disillusioned former AAP supporters are now joining the BJP. He accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of betraying the public’s trust. The event was also attended by several other BJP leaders.
