**Mandya, Karnataka, December 21, 2024** – Five people lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Mandya district on Saturday.
Three engineering students from Bengaluru – Pranav, Akash, and Adarsh – died when their car collided with a truck near Nagegowdana Doddi in Malavalli taluk. A fourth student, Prithvi, sustained critical injuries. The students, from the Bangalore Institute of Technology, were traveling to Talakad in Mysuru district when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision severely damaged their vehicle. The truck driver has been taken into custody.
In a separate incident near Mahadeshwarapura in Pandavapura, two women – Shilpashree (34) and Sandhya (17), a second-year pre-university student – were killed when their two-wheeler was hit by an onion-laden truck. Sandhya’s mother, Shailaja, was seriously injured. The accident occurred on the Srirangapatna-Jewargi highway.
Police from Malavalli and Melkote are investigating both accidents. Local officials and politicians visited the victims’ families to offer condolences.
