**LUCKNOW, December 21, 2024** – A four-member team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted a survey of five shrines and nineteen wells in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh on Friday, December 20th. The survey included a recently reopened temple, which had been locked since 1978 following communal riots. The district administration had previously requested the ASI to conduct carbon dating on the Bhasma Shankar temple and a nearby well. Following the survey, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) ordered the installation of CCTV cameras at the temple, with a live feed provided to the local police station. The ASI’s survey encompassed approximately 24 areas in total.
