**New Delhi** – A police complaint has been filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of causing injuries to two BJP MPs during a clash outside Parliament on Thursday. The complaint, filed by BJP MPs Anurag Thakur, Bansuri Swaraj, and Hemang Joshi, alleges that Gandhi’s actions resulted in head injuries to MPs Pratap Sarangi (69) and Mukesh Rajput, who are currently hospitalized.
The complaint cites several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, including voluntarily causing grievous hurt, endangering life, criminal force, criminal intimidation, and common intention. One complainant even accused Gandhi of attempted murder. Sarangi alleges that Gandhi pushed Rajput, causing Rajput to fall onto him.
Gandhi denies the accusations, claiming the incident was a diversionary tactic to deflect attention from Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments on B.R. Ambedkar. He asserts the BJP protest was not peaceful.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Phangnon Konyak also filed a separate complaint, alleging that Gandhi shouted at her during the protest, describing his behavior as unbecoming of the Leader of the Opposition. The Congress party has also filed a counter-complaint, alleging that BJP MPs pushed party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, causing leg injuries. The incident has sparked a political firestorm, with the BJP accusing Gandhi of “hooliganism” and the Congress refuting the allegations. The police are currently investigating the matter.
