Thu Dec 19 23:30:00 UTC 2024: ## NBA All-Star Game 2025 to Feature New Mini-Tournament Format
**San Francisco, CA –** The NBA is shaking up the All-Star Game format for 2025. Instead of a traditional single game, the 74th NBA All-Star Game, taking place February 16th at the Chase Center in San Francisco, will be a four-team mini-tournament featuring three games. The event will air on TNT at 8 p.m. ET.
This innovative format will see 24 All-Stars drafted onto three teams, each named after a TNT analyst: Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith. The fourth team will be the winners of the Castrol Rising Stars game, featuring top rookies and G-League players, and will be captained by WNBA legend Candace Parker.
The tournament will consist of two semi-final games (first to 40 points wins), followed by a championship game. Each team will have eight players, and a prize pool of $1.8 million will be distributed amongst the teams.
All-Star voting, presented by AT&T, begins December 19th and runs through January 20th. Fans can vote via the NBA App and NBA.com, with their votes counting three times on six designated “3-for-1 Days.” The starters will be determined by a combination of fan votes (50%), player votes (25%), and media votes (25%). Coaches from the top two teams in each conference will coach the All-Star teams.
The NBA aims for this new format to create a more competitive and entertaining All-Star experience. The event will also feature the All-Star Pitch Competition, highlighting emerging Bay Area businesses.
