Fri Dec 20 06:29:54 UTC 2024: ## Dalit Groups to Protest Amit Shah’s Remarks on Ambedkar

**Bengaluru, Dec 21** – Dalit organizations in Bengaluru are planning large-scale protests against Union Home Minister Amit Shah following his controversial remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. A major demonstration is scheduled for December 23rd at Freedom Park.

The AHINDA organization (representing minorities, backward classes, and Dalits) announced a campaign against Shah, the Modi government, and the BJP, calling for a ban on the RSS, which they accuse of being anti-constitutional. The protests will involve Dalits and backward classes, with leaders demanding Shah’s resignation.

This move follows the AHINDA community’s disillusionment with the Congress party after the recent state assembly elections. While they largely supported Congress in 2023, perceived failures to address quota issues and the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation scam have fueled discontent. Analysts suggest Shah’s remarks are inadvertently benefiting the Congress government by galvanizing Dalit support.

Further fueling the protests is former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s suggestion in the Rajya Sabha to reconsider caste-based reservations. AHINDA leaders see both Shah’s and Gowda’s statements as revealing underlying sentiments against Ambedkar’s legacy and the reservation system. They are urging increased awareness and mobilization within the community to address these concerns.
