Mumbai, India – India’s women’s cricket team secured a resounding 60-run victory over the West Indies in the third and final T20I, clinching the series 2-1 and their first home T20I series win in five years. India’s total of 217/4, their highest ever T20I score, proved insurmountable for the West Indies, who were bowled out for 157/9.

Smriti Mandhana, the stand-in captain, was named Player of the Series for her consistent batting throughout the series. She praised the team’s performance, highlighting the contributions of younger players in the absence of regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Richa Ghosh, who smashed a joint-fastest T20I fifty off just 18 balls, was awarded Player of the Match for her explosive innings. Ghosh credited the team’s strong start and maintained momentum throughout their innings.

India’s innings was powered by Mandhana and Ghosh’s attacking fifties, along with useful contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues and Raghvi Bist. While the West Indies struggled with the bat, Chinelle Henry’s impressive 43 off 16 balls provided a brief moment of resistance. However, Radha Yadav’s four wickets and the overall strong bowling performance from the Indian side proved too much for the West Indies to overcome.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews acknowledged India’s superior bowling and batting, particularly highlighting the performances of Mandhana and Ghosh. She noted the small margin for error on wickets like this and expressed disappointment in their fielding and bowling performance, despite a decent batting performance throughout the series.

The series win provides a significant boost for India’s confidence ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, starting December 22nd at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
