Fri Dec 20 04:51:37 UTC 2024: ## India Clinches T20 Series Win Over West Indies with Record-Breaking Performance

**Navi Mumbai, India:** The Indian women’s cricket team celebrated a resounding 60-run victory over the West Indies in the third and final T20I on Thursday, securing their first home T20 series win in five years. India amassed their highest ever T20I total of 217/4, fueled by record-breaking performances from Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh.

Mandhana, in continued stellar form, notched her eighth half-century of the year – the most by any batter in a calendar year – finishing with a 77-run knock (47 balls, 13 fours, 1 six). This also marks her 30th T20I fifty, the most in the format’s history. Furthermore, her 763 runs this year set a new record for the most runs scored in women’s T20Is in a calendar year.

Richa Ghosh smashed a breathtaking 54 runs off just 21 balls, equaling the record for the fastest fifty in women’s T20I cricket. Her innings included five sixes and three boundaries, showcasing explosive power hitting.

The Indian innings was built on a solid 98-run partnership between Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues (39 runs off 28 balls). Raghvi Bist’s unbeaten 31 further contributed to the team’s massive total.

Despite a promising start by West Indies openers Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin, India’s bowlers, led by Radha Yadav’s impressive 4/29, successfully restricted the visitors to 157/9. Chinelle Henry’s 43 provided brief resistance, but it wasn’t enough to overcome India’s dominant performance.

The victory marks a significant turnaround for India, who lost the second T20I by a significant margin. This series win underscores India’s resurgence in the shortest format of the game.
