Shimla, Himachal Pradesh – The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) today launched state-wide protests demanding an apology and the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over remarks deemed insulting to B.R. Ambedkar. HPCC president and former MP Pratibha Singh led the charge, accusing Shah of disrespecting the architect of the Indian Constitution during a recent Rajya Sabha session.

Singh stated that Shah’s comments constituted a “grave insult” to Ambedkar and that he lacked the moral authority to continue in his ministerial position. She further condemned the alleged barring of Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, from Parliament, characterizing it as an attack on democracy.

All India Congress Committee Secretary and state co-in-charge Vidit Chaudhary echoed Singh’s sentiments, declaring that the Congress would maintain its protests until a formal apology is issued by the BJP and Amit Shah. He emphasized that any disrespect towards Ambedkar is a direct affront to the nation and its Constitution. Protests were held across various districts of Himachal Pradesh in demonstration of the party’s stance.
