Fri Dec 20 06:03:04 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Police Files Case Against Rahul Gandhi Following Parliament Clash

**New Delhi:** Delhi Police have registered a case against Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi following a complaint filed by the BJP. The complaint stems from a scuffle in Parliament on Thursday, during which allegations of assault and incitement were made against Mr. Gandhi.

The case, registered under sections 117, 125, 131, and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), allegedly involves charges of voluntarily causing hurt, endangering life and personal safety, using criminal force, and acting with a common intention. The BJP had also initially demanded charges under sections relating to attempt to murder.

The incident occurred near the Parliament House’s Gate No. 1, amidst heated protests over alleged disrespect to B.R. Ambedkar. BJP MPs Hemang Joshi, Anurag Thakur, and Bansuri Swaraj filed the complaint, alleging that Mr. Gandhi was involved in the pushing and shoving that resulted in injuries to fellow BJP MPs.

While the BJP accuses Mr. Gandhi of assault, the Congress vehemently denies the allegations, counter-claiming that BJP MPs were responsible for the altercation and that they pushed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The Congress has also submitted a separate complaint to the police. The police investigation is ongoing.
