The film, slated for a July 11, 2025 release, will explore Superman’s origins, from his Kansas upbringing to his early days at the Daily Planet. The trailer showcases his relationship with Lois Lane, his faithful companion Krypto, and a first encounter with Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult. However, the film also depicts a Superman facing public distrust, highlighting a struggle for credibility with the citizens of Metropolis.
Gunn, in an interview with IGN, emphasized his commitment to making the film a standalone story, stating, “Everything needs to stand by itself.” While acknowledging the planting of seeds for future films, he prioritized making this installment the best it could be.
