Thu Dec 19 16:43:20 UTC 2024: ## BJP MPs Hospitalized After Parliament Brawl; Accusations Fly Between BJP and Congress
**New Delhi** – Two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, were hospitalized with head injuries following a brawl outside the Parliament building earlier today. The incident, which involved parallel protests from the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, left the MPs in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi contacted both MPs to inquire about their health. Several senior BJP leaders, including Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Dharmendra Pradhan, visited them in the hospital. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit later.
Minister Chouhan strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging he was responsible for the injuries. He accused Gandhi of hooliganism and called for a workshop to train Congress members on parliamentary decorum. Sarangi specifically claimed Gandhi pushed Rajput, causing him to fall and injure Sarangi in the process.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that appropriate action will be taken after assessing the injuries, emphasizing that Parliament is not a “wrestling ring.”
Gandhi denied the allegations, suggesting they were a distraction from Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments on B.R. Ambedkar. Hospital officials confirmed Sarangi’s injuries, including a deep forehead cut requiring stitches, and Rajput’s head injury and subsequent loss of consciousness. Both MPs experienced elevated blood pressure upon arrival.
The Congress party also claims their leaders were injured in the incident. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to the Lok Sabha Speaker, alleging he was pushed by BJP MPs, resulting in knee injuries. He requested an inquiry into the events. The incident has sparked intense political debate and calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the brawl.
