Fri Dec 20 03:58:16 UTC 2024: ## RJD Chief Calls for Amit Shah’s Resignation After Ambedkar Remarks

**New Delhi** – A political firestorm erupted after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on B.R. Ambedkar, sparking outrage from opposition parties. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav launched a scathing attack, calling Shah “mad” and demanding his resignation from politics. Yadav’s comments followed Shah’s statement in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, where he criticized the Congress for the frequent invocation of Ambedkar’s name, saying it had become a “fashion.”

Shah’s statement, in which he rhetorically questioned the sincerity of the Congress’s repeated mention of Ambedkar, drew immediate condemnation. Lalu Yadav condemned Shah’s words as an insult to Ambedkar, while his son, Tejashwi Yadav, accused the BJP of being anti-constitution and spreading hatred.

The controversy spread to the Lok Sabha, where Congress MP Manickam Tagore moved an adjournment motion demanding an apology and Shah’s resignation. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also echoed calls for Shah’s resignation and a public apology, accusing him of disrespecting Ambedkar. Congress members, alongside other opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, staged protests in Parliament, holding photographs of the revered architect of the Indian Constitution. The incident has escalated into a major political clash, with the opposition united in its condemnation of Shah’s remarks.
