Fri Dec 20 07:43:04 UTC 2024: ## FIR Filed Against Rahul Gandhi Following Parliament Clash; Congress to Protest Nationwide

**New Delhi, Dec 19, 2024** – A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following a scuffle near Parliament’s Gate No. 1 on Thursday. The FIR was registered based on a complaint by BJP MPs who alleged that Gandhi pushed and injured two of their colleagues, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, during a protest.

The incident has escalated tensions, with the Congress announcing nationwide protests on Friday, December 20th, at all district headquarters. The party will demand an apology and resignation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his recent remarks regarding Ambedkar, and will also protest the FIR against Gandhi.

In response to the escalating situation, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has banned all protests and demonstrations by MPs and political parties at any Parliament gates. Strict instructions have been issued to security personnel to enforce this ban.

The BJP complaint, filed by MPs Hemang Joshi, Anurag Thakur, and Bansuri Swaraj, initially included charges under section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, the police removed this section while filing the FIR, adding other charges as mentioned in the complaint.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a pre-budget meeting with state finance ministers on Friday.
