**Puducherry, December 17, 2024** – Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has directed the Puducherry Smart City Development Limited to accelerate the construction of a new sports complex at Anna Thidal. The project, which includes 179 new shops, a dormitory, an administrative office, and a mini-stadium, was initially slated for completion in 2023 but has faced delays.
The project’s cost has increased from ₹9.66 crores to approximately ₹11 crores due to the delays. Following an inspection on Tuesday, the Chief Minister ordered officials to finalize the project within the next two months.
The mini-stadium will feature a football ground, running track, petanque court, gymnasium, and play area. It is intended to serve the sporting needs of several government schools in the Boulevard area lacking their own playgrounds. The shops will be used for commercial purposes.
