Tue Dec 17 16:58:02 UTC 2024: ## BJP Leaders Support Bangladeshi Lawyer Defending Jailed ISKCON Monk

**Kolkata, India – December 18, 2024** – A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in West Bengal met with Bangladeshi lawyer Rabindra Ghosh on Tuesday to express their support for his efforts in defending jailed ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das. Ghosh, 75, who is currently receiving medical treatment in India, confirmed he will represent Das in court in Chattogram on January 2nd.

Das, a spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote, was arrested in Dhaka on November 25th and has been denied bail. Ghosh called the denial “illegal” and vowed to utilize all legal avenues to secure Das’s release. The BJP leaders, including Arjun Singh and Kaustav Bagchi, along with a prominent monk from Bharat Sevashram, praised Ghosh’s courage and commitment in the face of potential threats.

The arrest of Das, and reports of attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, have sparked protests and demonstrations in West Bengal. The BJP’s show of support underscores the political sensitivity surrounding the issue. Meanwhile, ISKCON Kolkata vice president Radharaman Das shared a video online alleging another attack on a Hindu businessman in Bangladesh. The situation continues to escalate tensions between the two countries.
