**Mumbai:** Despite a half-century by Smriti Mandhana, India Women lost the second T20I against West Indies Women by 9 wickets in Mumbai. The series is now tied 1-1.

Mandhana, captaining in the absence of the injured Harmanpreet Kaur, top-scored with a 62-run knock off 41 balls, including 9 fours and a six. Richa Ghosh provided late impetus with a quick 32 (17 balls, 6 fours), helping India post a 159/9 in their 20 overs. Hayley Matthews (2/36) and Afy Fletcher (2/28) were the pick of the West Indies bowlers.

However, the West Indies chase was equally impressive. Openers Hayley Matthews and Rashada Williams laid a strong foundation with a 66-run partnership. While Williams was dismissed for 38 (22 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes), Matthews remained unbeaten on 85 (47 balls, 17 fours), steering her team to victory in 15.4 overs. She was ably supported by Chinelle Henry (29 not out; 26 balls, 4 fours). Only one Indian bowler, Simran Dil Bahadur, managed to take a wicket.

Matthews was named Player of the Match. The decisive third T20I will be played on Thursday. The BCCI medical team is monitoring Harmanpreet Kaur’s progress.
