Tue Dec 17 03:53:28 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Triumphs Over Madhya Pradesh to Claim Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

**Vadodara, Gujarat –** Mumbai clinched their second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title with a thrilling five-wicket victory over Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Chasing a challenging 175, Mumbai overcame a shaky start to reach the target in 17.5 overs.

Madhya Pradesh’s innings was anchored by captain Rajat Patidar’s unbeaten 81, a knock that included a stunning six off Shardul Thakur. Despite Patidar’s heroics and a late flourish, MP could only manage 174/8. Other than Patidar, only Shubhranshu Senapati (23) offered significant support.

Mumbai’s chase got off to a rocky beginning with the early dismissals of Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer. However, Suryakumar Yadav (48) and Ajinkya Rahane (37) steadied the ship with a crucial 52-run partnership. Although Rahane and Yadav’s dismissals triggered a brief period of uncertainty at 129/5, Suryansh Shedge (36*) and Atharva Ankolekar (16*) smashed the remaining runs with ease, sealing the win for Mumbai.

This victory marks Mumbai’s second SMAT title, following their inaugural win in 2022, while Madhya Pradesh’s quest for their first trophy continues. The match, played before a crowd of over 15,000, showcased thrilling batting displays from both teams, highlighting the high-octane nature of the tournament.
