Tue Dec 17 01:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Shoaib Akhtar Confident His World Record Pace Can Be Broken in Six Months

**LAHORE, PAKISTAN** – Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, renowned for his record-breaking 161.3 kph delivery in the 2003 World Cup, believes his speed record can be surpassed within six months. In a recent interview on the TNKS podcast, Akhtar stated that with focused training of young talent globally, he could easily facilitate the breaking of his own record.

Akhtar expressed a desire to see his record broken, suggesting he could assemble thousands of young bowlers worldwide and nurture their talent to reach speeds exceeding 160 kph. He even went so far as to say that if a significant number of bowlers achieve speeds above 150 kph, the International Cricket Council (ICC) would owe him a debt of gratitude.

The 49-year-old cricketing legend, who played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, retired in 2011. His record, set two decades ago, remains unbroken. He believes his ambitious project to develop young fast bowlers would not only break his record but also significantly boost the pace bowling talent pool internationally. He even proposed a public poll to determine which promising young talents should receive his mentorship.
