Mon Dec 16 22:31:00 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Pradesh Approves ₹24,276 Crore Capital City Construction Projects
**Vijayawada, December 17, 2024** – The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has approved the construction of major infrastructure projects in Amaravati, the state’s new capital, at a total cost of ₹24,276 crore. The projects, approved at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, include the construction of the Legislative Assembly and High Court buildings, five iconic towers, and extensive road networks.
The Assembly building, a 250-meter-high tower with a built-up area of 11.22 lakh sq ft, will cost ₹765 crore. The High Court, a G+7 structure spanning 20.32 lakh sq ft, will cost ₹1,049 crore. Five iconic towers, totaling 68,88,064 sq ft, are slated for construction at a cost of ₹4,688 crore. These will house government offices. One notable tower, the GAD tower, will feature G+47 floors and 17,03,433 sq ft of space.
The project also includes the construction of 579.50 km of roads under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), along with associated infrastructure like sewerage, water lines, drainage, and electrical and telecom cables, at a cost of ₹9,699 crore.
Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana attributed the increased costs to a 49.02% rise in construction costs since 2017-18, when tenders were first invited. The costs of iconic towers, flood canals, and LPS works increased by 41%, 39%, and 28-35% respectively. The Assembly building’s tower will be open to the public for viewing when not in session.
