Tue Dec 17 03:28:53 UTC 2024: ## Australia Dominates Day Two of Third Test Against India

Brisbane, Australia – Australia took control on day two of the third Border-Gavaskar Test against India at the Gabba, reaching 405/7 at stumps. Rain disrupted play on day one, but day two saw a strong Australian batting performance, fueled by centuries from Steve Smith and Travis Head.

Smith’s century, his 10th against India in Tests, propelled him to the top of the list for most centuries scored against India in Test cricket. This achievement is particularly impressive considering he achieved this milestone in just 41 innings. The innings marked a stark contrast to Head’s previous three appearances at the Gabba, where he was dismissed for a duck each time. This time, however, Head scored a magnificent 152.

The Australian pair of Head and Smith put on a massive partnership of over 200 runs before Head’s dismissal. While Mitchell Marsh contributed little, Starc (7*) and Carey (45*) remained unbeaten at the close of play.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers, taking five wickets with his fiery pace, dismissing key batsmen Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey early on, along with Marnus Labuschagne (12). Despite Bumrah’s efforts, Australia’s strong batting display leaves them in a commanding position going into day three.
