**CHENNAI, December 16, 2024** – The Village Administrative Officer (VAO) office in Chitlapakkam, located prominently on the main road opposite Tambaram MLA S.R. Raja’s office, is in dire need of repair. The building suffers from significant water leakage from its overhead tank and lacks a concrete compound, allowing stray animals to occupy the premises.
This comes despite the recent merger of the Chitlapakkam town panchayat with the Tambaram Corporation. Residents continue to rely on the VAO office for various services, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
MLA S.R. Raja has assured residents that funds will be allocated next year for the construction of a new office building, aiming for completion within twelve months.
In other news, the Chennai Corporation’s distribution of new, larger street vendor bunks on the busy Arunachalam Road in Saligramam has raised concerns about pedestrian safety. The increased size of the bunks is reportedly encroaching on pedestrian walkways, forcing people onto the already congested road and increasing the risk of accidents.
