Mon Dec 16 04:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss Announces Cancer Battle, Successful Surgery
**[City, State] –** Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss revealed Friday that he has undergone major surgery to remove a cancerous mass from his bile duct. The 47-year-old, appearing on Instagram Live using a cane, identified himself as a cancer survivor, thanking supporters for their prayers and well wishes.
Moss explained that the cancerous mass was located between his pancreas and liver. He underwent a Whipple procedure, a complex surgery involving the removal of parts of his pancreas, small intestine, gallbladder, and bile duct. The procedure, completed about a week prior to his announcement, lasted six hours, followed by a six-day hospital stay. He stated he is now recovering at home.
While expressing surprise at his diagnosis, Moss shared that he will undergo further treatment, including radiation and chemotherapy. He also announced a fundraising initiative on his website to support cancer research.
Moss recently stepped away from his analyst role on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown on December 6th. He expressed his intention to return to the program as soon as his health permits. “My goal is to get back on television with my team,” he stated.
Moss, a legendary NFL player with 14 seasons under his belt and second all-time in touchdown receptions, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. His remarkable career included stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers.
