**NEW DELHI** – The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is reminding citizens that today, December 14th, is the final day to update Aadhaar card details free of charge. After today, updates will incur a fee.
The UIDAI encourages all Aadhaar holders to update their information, including name, date of birth, and address, every ten years to ensure accurate record-keeping and efficient service delivery. Updating these details online is simple and can be done through the UIDAI myAadhaar portal. However, changes to biometric information, such as fingerprints, iris scans, or photographs, require a visit to an Aadhaar enrollment center. The UIDAI also notes that changes to date of birth and gender are limited to one update only.
Citizens are urged to complete their updates before the deadline to avoid future charges. An Update Request Number (URN) will be sent via mobile phone to track the progress of the update.
