**Bengaluru, India:** Mumbai clinched the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2024 title with a resounding five-wicket victory over Madhya Pradesh in the final held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. This is Mumbai’s second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, their previous win coming in 2022.

Winning the toss, Mumbai opted to field first. Madhya Pradesh’s innings got off to a shaky start, losing four key batsmen for 54 runs. However, captain Rajat Patidar steadied the ship with an unbeaten 81 off 40 balls (6 sixes, 6 fours), including a 28-ball fifty, leading Madhya Pradesh to 174/8 in their 20 overs. Patidar finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer with 428 runs. Shardul Thakur and Reston Dias took two wickets each for Mumbai.

Chasing 175, Mumbai also had a slightly hesitant start but Ajinkya Rahane (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (48, 4 fours, 3 sixes) provided a solid foundation. Suryansh Shedge’s unbeaten 36 and Atharva Ankolkar’s 16 guided Mumbai to victory in 17.5 overs, losing only five wickets. Suryakumar Yadav, who topped the tournament’s run charts with 469 runs, was instrumental in the win.

Mumbai’s consistent performance throughout the tournament, showcasing strength across all departments, culminated in a well-deserved victory. The impressive batting performances of Suryakumar Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, and Suryansh Shedge proved decisive in securing the title for Mumbai.
