Sun Dec 15 12:43:06 UTC 2024: ## Exam Chaos in Bihar: Candidates Riot, Steal and Tear Question Papers

**Patna, Bihar –** A mass disruption marred a Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam on Friday, as candidates rioted, stole, and destroyed question papers. CCTV footage reveals a large group forcefully entering a storage area, seizing and tearing exam materials.

The incident stemmed from a 40-45 minute delay in distributing question papers. While exam officials assured candidates they would receive extra time to compensate, this failed to appease the agitated crowd. The situation escalated when candidates demanded to know why sealed question paper boxes weren’t opened in their specific rooms.

The ensuing chaos saw candidates pushing past officials, raiding storage boxes, and tearing question papers. Some even escaped with stolen papers, distributing them to those gathered outside the exam center amidst escalating rumors of the exam’s cancellation. The rioters also damaged attendance sheets and other exam materials.

Local authorities and police intervened to restore order, enabling the remaining 5,674 candidates to complete the exam under controlled conditions. Officials attributed the initial delay to the sheer number of candidates filling all five floors of the exam center. The situation was exacerbated by candidates’ objections to the centralized distribution of question papers.

A police complaint has been filed detailing the events. The investigation is ongoing.
