Sun Dec 15 13:21:24 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Lok Adalat Resolves Over 157,000 Cases, Refunds ₹33.2 Crore in Cyber Fraud

**Hyderabad, December 15, 2024** – A National Lok Adalat held in Telangana on December 14 successfully resolved a record-breaking 157,088 cases across various categories, including a significant number of cyber fraud cases. The initiative, overseen by the Supreme Court, facilitated amicable settlements through compounding, resulting in a remarkable ₹33.2 crore being refunded to 4,893 victims of cybercrime. This surpasses the previous record of ₹25.2 crore refunded in September 2024.

The state-wide effort, launched on November 28, involved the collaboration of law enforcement agencies, judicial authorities, and the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). A total of 20,752 FIR cases were compounded, along with 2,131 disaster management cases, 74,767 e-petty cases, and 59,438 Motor Vehicle Act cases.

Hyderabad led the way with 24,546 cases resolved, followed by Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Suryapet, and Nizamabad. The TGCSB’s director, Shikha Goel, highlighted the bureau’s consistent efforts since February 20, 2024, in providing timely financial relief to cybercrime victims.

Telangana’s Director General of Police (DGP), Jitender, praised the involved agencies for their efficient collaboration and lauded the top-performing units for their exceptional work. The Lok Adalat is lauded as a highly effective platform for resolving disputes efficiently, reducing the burden on the judiciary and offering a streamlined process for citizens to settle compoundable cases.
