**Hisar, Haryana –** The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Haryana Women’s Commission vice chairperson Sonia Aggarwal and her driver, Kulbir, on Saturday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh (approximately $12,000 USD).
According to an ACB statement, the arrest followed a complaint from a teacher whose wife, a sub-inspector in the Haryana Police, had filed a domestic dispute application against him with the commission on November 25th. The complainant alleged that Aggarwal’s driver, Kulbir, demanded a bribe to influence the case’s outcome.
The ACB set a trap, deploying two teams. Kulbir was apprehended red-handed while receiving the bribe in Hisar, while Aggarwal was simultaneously arrested in Kharkhoda. A case has been registered against both individuals at the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rohtak police station, and investigations are ongoing. The ACB spokesperson confirmed that the complainant had been repeatedly contacted by Aggarwal and ultimately pressured to pay the bribe.
