Bengaluru, December 13, 2024 – Royal Challengers Bangalore star Rajat Patidar delivered a match-winning performance, leading Madhya Pradesh (MP) to a convincing victory over Delhi in the second semi-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Patidar’s unbeaten 66 off just 29 balls, including six sixes and four fours, powered MP to a comfortable chase of 147 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
MP were initially struggling at 46/3, but Patidar and Harpreet Singh Bhatia steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. Patidar, in particular, targeted the Delhi spinners, showcasing his power hitting with several impressive boundaries and maximums. The duo ensured MP reached the target with 26 balls to spare, sealing a place in the final against Mumbai.
Delhi, after posting a modest 146 runs earlier in the day, were hampered by a middle-order collapse despite an early impetus from Priyansh Arya. Ishant Sharma took two wickets for Delhi, but Patidar’s explosive innings proved too much to overcome.
Mumbai secured their place in the final earlier in the day, comfortably chasing down Baroda’s 159 runs thanks to Ajinkya Rahane’s impressive 98 runs. The final will take place on Sunday.
