**Lahore, Pakistan** – The Lahore High Court adjourned the hearing of a rape case against Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam until December 16th. The petitioner, Hamiza Mukhtar, alleges that Azam, after a period of relationship, assaulted her after promising marriage. She claims he then pressured her into an abortion after she became pregnant.
Mukhtar reiterated her claims in court, presenting medical documents as evidence. She further alleges that police refused to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Azam in 2021 after she reported blackmail and fornication.
Azam’s senior lawyer was absent from the hearing. His junior counsel successfully requested an adjournment, which the court granted. Azam is currently in South Africa playing a series of matches against the South African team. The first T20I saw Azam dismissed for a duck.
