Thu Dec 12 19:10:00 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Complete ODI Whitewash Over Bangladesh with Jangoo’s Debut Century
**Basseterre, St. Kitts:** The West Indies celebrated a resounding 3-0 series victory over Bangladesh in their final One Day International (ODI) match on Thursday, capped off by a stunning century from debutant Amir Jangoo. Chasing a challenging 321, the Windies stumbled early, losing three quick wickets to find themselves at 86/4. However, a crucial 132-run partnership between Keacy Carty (95) and Jangoo ignited the chase. Jangoo went on to smash an unbeaten 104 off 83 balls, securing a thrilling four-wicket win and the series whitewash. This marks the West Indies’ first 3-0 ODI series victory against a Test-playing nation since March 2021.
Bangladesh, who posted their first 300+ total since the 2023 ODI World Cup, thanks largely to a 150-run unbeaten sixth-wicket partnership between Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali, saw their strong start undone by a mid-innings collapse. While Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the Windies bowlers, Bangladesh’s bowling attack ultimately failed to contain the late surge from the hosts.
Sherfane Rutherford was named Player of the Series, while Jangoo received the Player of the Match award for his impressive debut performance. West Indies captain Shai Hope praised his team’s performance and highlighted the contributions of the newer players. Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan acknowledged their bowling shortcomings, despite a strong batting display, and highlighted the need for improved performance from the bowling unit in upcoming matches. The two teams will now face off in a T20I series starting December 16th.
