**Hyderabad, India** – Telugu actor Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with the death of a 35-year-old woman during a chaotic premiere of his film, “Pushpa 2: The Rise,” on December 4th. The incident occurred at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre, where a massive crowd gathered hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor. A nine-year-old boy was also seriously injured in the stampede.
Police have charged Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. The case was filed following a complaint by the deceased woman’s husband. The theatre owner, general manager, and security manager were arrested on December 8th.
Authorities allege that neither the actor’s team nor the theatre management notified authorities of Allu Arjun’s planned appearance, nor did they take adequate measures to manage the overwhelming crowd.
Allu Arjun, who appeared before the Telangana High Court on December 11th seeking to quash the FIR, has expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He publicly announced a Rs 25 lakh (approximately $300,000 USD) assistance package for the victim’s family and pledged to cover the boy’s medical expenses. He stated his intention to meet the family personally. The investigation is ongoing.
