**Chandigarh, December 12** – The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has advised singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh to omit alcohol-themed songs from his upcoming concert in Chandigarh on December 14th. The advisory, issued by CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal, specifically names songs like “Patiala Peg,” “5 Tara,” and “Case,” citing their potential negative influence on children. The commission warns against even modified versions promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence.
This follows a similar advisory issued last month by the Telangana government during Dosanjh’s Hyderabad concert. The Chandigarh advisory also urges organizers to prevent children from being brought on stage due to the high decibel levels, exceeding safe limits for children’s hearing. The commission emphasizes the World Health Organization’s guidelines on safe sound levels for adults and children. Furthermore, the advisory prohibits serving alcohol to anyone under 25, citing violations of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The CCPCR has forwarded the advisory to the Chandigarh Excise and Taxation Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police for enforcement. Separately, a delegation led by former Chandigarh BJP president Arun Sood has requested a venue change for both Dosanjh’s and A.P. Dhillon’s concerts (scheduled for December 21st), citing traffic congestion caused by a recent concert at the Sector 34 exhibition ground. Sood suggested relocating the events to the Sector 25 rally ground to minimize disruption to residents. While expressing appreciation for Punjabi music, Sood highlighted the significant inconvenience experienced by locals during the Karan Aujla concert.
