**Manchester, England** – Manchester United is looking beyond traditional footballing powerhouses in its search for future talent. The club, in partnership with sponsor Apollo Tyres, has brought six young footballers from India, Nepal, Thailand, and the UAE to Old Trafford for a training program. These players were selected from a pool of 15,000 applicants as part of the “United We Play” initiative, aiming to identify and develop talent from underrepresented regions.
The program, now in its fourth year, seeks to provide opportunities for young players who might not otherwise have access to elite coaching. Former Manchester United players Louis Saha and John O’Shea have been involved in the initiative, highlighting the club’s commitment to its global reach. Academy Director Nick Cox emphasized the importance of providing opportunities, stating his hope that the program inspires young players and shows them that professional football is a realistic goal. The six finalists underwent intensive training at Old Trafford, even braving torrential rain during sessions. Manchester United hopes this initiative will unearth undiscovered talent and potentially bring players from India and Thailand into the Premier League for the first time.
