**Bengaluru, December 13, 2024** – Karnataka experienced a significant surge in air travel in 2023-24, ranking third nationally in terms of passenger growth, according to data presented in Parliament by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol.
The state saw a remarkable increase of 5 million passengers, reaching a total of 36.5 million air travelers in 2023-24 compared to 31.5 million in 2022-23. This represents a year-on-year growth of approximately 16%. While domestic travel remains dominant (35.1 million passengers in 2023-24), international travel also saw a modest increase from 1.2 million to 1.3 million passengers.
Delhi topped the list with 63.2 million passengers in 2023-24, followed by Maharashtra with 59 million. Karnataka’s impressive growth is attributed to its nine operational airports, including the Kempegowda International Airport, Mangaluru International Airport, and several others across the state.
