**Tiruchirappalli, December 13, 2024** – Torrential rains have caused widespread flooding in Tiruchirappalli and surrounding districts in Tamil Nadu, severely disrupting daily life. The downpour, which began Wednesday evening and continued through Friday, resulted in waterlogging in numerous low-lying areas across the city and several villages.

The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Pullampadi (94.2 mm), followed by Nandiyar Head (87.4 mm) and Samayapuram (84 mm) in the 24 hours ending Friday morning. Tiruchirappalli city itself saw 61 mm of rainfall. The intense downpour led to flooding in numerous residential areas including Crawford, Anbu Nagar, Krishnamurthy Nagar, and several others, leaving residents wading through knee-deep water. Sewage overflow compounded the problem in many areas.

Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru visited the affected areas, instructing officials to expedite drainage efforts.
