Thu Dec 12 23:49:30 UTC 2024: ## Hanuman Vratham 2024: Devotees to Observe Sacred Fast on December 13th
**Hyderabad, India –** Devotees in Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh will observe Hanuman Vratham, a sacred fasting ritual dedicated to Lord Hanuman, on December 13th, 2024. This annual event, falling on the 13th day of the waxing moon in the Margashirsha month, is believed to bring blessings and protection.
According to tradition, the vrata, which involves Pampa Puja and Hanuman Puja, was originally performed by Draupadi, wife of the Pandavas. Legend attributes the ritual’s origins to Lord Brahma granting a boon to Vayu, the wind god, ensuring success and prosperity for those who observe it. In Karnataka, the day also marks Kannada Hanuman Jayanti, celebrating Lord Hanuman’s birth.
This year’s observance will begin with Trayodashi Tithi commencing at 10:26 PM on December 12th and concluding at 7:40 PM on December 13th. Devotees will participate in various rituals, including tying a thread with 13 knots while chanting “OM Namo Vayunandanaya OM,” and offering prayers at temples or at home. Donating wheat to the needy is also considered a virtuous act.
The Hanuman Vratham is believed to bring good health, happiness, and the fulfillment of desires. The ritual, said to have been taught by Sage Veda Vyasa to King Yudhishtara, is seen as a potent way to seek Lord Hanuman’s grace and protection.
