Fri Dec 13 14:15:22 UTC 2024: ## Naidu’s TDP Landslandslide Victory in Andhra Pradesh

**VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh –** In a stunning upset, Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured a landslide victory in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, winning 135 out of 144 contested seats. This marks a dramatic reversal from the 2019 results, where the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) secured a commanding majority. The NDA alliance, including the TDP, Jana Sena Party (JSP), and BJP, won a total of 164 out of 175 seats.

The YSRCP, led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, suffered a crushing defeat, winning only 11 seats – a stark contrast to their 151 seats in 2019. Political analysts attribute the YSRCP’s loss to strategic blunders by Mr. Reddy.

Naidu’s return to power is largely credited to his renewed alliance with the BJP and JSP, orchestrated by Pawan Kalyan, who played a crucial role in consolidating opposition votes. Kalyan’s JSP achieved a 100% win rate, securing all 21 seats it contested. The BJP also made a significant comeback, winning 8 out of 10 seats.

Naidu’s priorities for his fourth term include reinstating Amaravati as the sole capital, reversing the previous government’s three-capital plan. He also plans to focus on infrastructure development and has released policy documents for various sectors. However, the success of these initiatives hinges heavily on cooperation from the central NDA government.

While the TDP celebrates its victory, the YSRCP faces the challenge of rebuilding and maintaining party unity. The people of Andhra Pradesh now look to Naidu to deliver on his promises, hoping for a repeat of his success in transforming Hyderabad into an IT hub.
