Fri Dec 13 14:24:32 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan All-rounder Imad Wasim Retires (Again) from International Cricket

**LAHORE, PAKISTAN** – Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his retirement from international cricket, for the second time. The 35-year-old initially retired on November 29, 2023, only to return on March 23, 2024. His second retirement comes after a brief stint with the national team, which included participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Since the tournament, he’s been dropped from the Pakistan squad. His underwhelming performance in the World Cup, notably a 15-run innings off 23 balls against India, drew considerable criticism.

Wasim’s announcement on social media was met with a wave of online trolling. He stated that the decision followed considerable reflection and cited playing for Pakistan as a significant life achievement. However, he clarified that he will continue playing franchise cricket worldwide.

During his international career, Wasim played 55 ODIs and 75 T20 Internationals, scoring 986 ODI runs and 554 T20 runs, while taking 44 and 73 wickets respectively in the two formats. He joins a list of Pakistani cricketers, including Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Amir, who have retired and returned to the sport.
