Tue Dec 10 04:02:24 UTC 2024: ## BJP Accuses Sonia Gandhi of Soros Ties, Sparking Political Firestorm

**New Delhi** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, alleging links to an organization funded by billionaire philanthropist George Soros. The accusations have ignited a major political row, with the BJP claiming these connections indicate a threat to India’s national interests.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju voiced concerns about the alleged ties, urging national unity against “anti-India forces,” while stopping short of directly implicating Gandhi. He did, however, note the growing questions surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s leadership within the INDIA alliance.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey amplified the accusations on X (formerly Twitter), questioning the funding of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and raising concerns about Soros’s funding of Indian students’ education abroad. This isn’t the first time the BJP has linked Soros to the Congress; similar accusations were made by former Union Minister Smriti Irani earlier this year.

George Soros, a long-time critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has previously been accused by the BJP of attempting to influence India’s democratic processes. His Open Society Foundations, dedicated to promoting democracy and human rights globally, has been at the center of the controversy.

The BJP’s allegations come amid a backdrop of heightened political tension, including the fallout from a Hindenburg Research report that alleged financial irregularities by the Adani Group. Soros’s subsequent criticism of Prime Minister Modi following the report has further fueled the current political conflict. The Congress party is yet to issue a formal response to the BJP’s allegations.
