Mon Dec 09 22:08:40 UTC 2024: ## Timberwolves Rout Warriors in First of Weekend Doubleheader

**SAN FRANCISCO, CA** – Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a convincing 107-90 victory over the Golden State Warriors Friday night, extending Minnesota’s dominance in the recent series. Edwards poured in 30 points and dished out nine assists, while Rudy Gobert added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Despite Stephen Curry’s return from a one-game rest, scoring 23 points, the Warriors struggled with turnovers and defensive stops. Curry’s 3-pointer with just over 10 minutes remaining briefly narrowed the gap to three points, but the Timberwolves pulled away. Draymond Green, also back from injury, contributed 10 points, nine rebounds, and six assists but picked up his seventh technical foul of the season.

The Timberwolves dominated the boards, particularly in the first half, where they outrebounded the Warriors 27-19 en route to a 56-46 halftime lead. Golden State’s struggles were evident in a dismal second quarter where they managed only four points in the first nine minutes. The Warriors were further hampered by injuries to Moses Moody (left knee soreness) and Andrew Wiggins (right ankle). A controversial overturned basket late in the third quarter also proved costly for Golden State.

The win marks the Timberwolves’ fifth consecutive victory over the Warriors and their fourth straight win at Chase Center. The two teams will clash again on Sunday in the second game of their weekend series.
