**Bengaluru, Karnataka –** Former Karnataka Chief Minister and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna passed away at his Bengaluru residence on Tuesday morning at the age of 92. His family confirmed the news, stating he had been unwell for some time.
Krishna, a prominent figure in Indian politics, held numerous high-profile positions throughout his career. He served as Chief Minister of Karnataka, External Affairs Minister of India, Governor of Maharashtra, and Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He is widely credited with laying the foundation for Karnataka’s thriving IT and BT industries, significantly contributing to “Brand Bengaluru’s” international recognition. He achieved this through visionary policies, including the establishment of IT and BT vision groups led by business leaders—a model praised for its effectiveness.
