Mon Dec 09 21:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Chief Minister Unveils Telangana Talli Statue, Marks Congress’s First Anniversary

**Hyderabad, December 9, 2024** – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled a new statue of Telangana Talli (Mother Telangana) at the state Secretariat today, marking the culmination of the “Praja Palana – Praja Vijayotsvalu” celebrations and the first anniversary of the Congress government’s rule.

The statue, designed to represent the “Bahujan” form of the mother figure, is intended to symbolize Telangana’s identity and cultural traditions, Reddy emphasized. He criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government under K. Chandrasekhar Rao for prioritizing “individual and political interests” over the needs of the people and for neglecting Telangana’s cultural heritage.

Reddy highlighted several actions taken by his government to restore Telangana’s identity, including officially replacing “TS” with “TG” as the state’s abbreviation, and finally recognizing “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” as the state anthem. He warned that any attempt to alter the statue’s design or disrespect the annual December 9th commemoration would face legal action.

Nine poets, artists, and activists who contributed significantly to the Telangana movement were also honored with plots of land, monetary awards, and letters of felicitation. Among those recognized were Guda Anjaiah, Bandi Yadagiri, Gaddar, Ande Sri, Goreti Venkanna, Suddala Ashok Teja, Jayaraj, Aekkada Yadagiri Rao, and Pasham Yadagiri.

The Chief Minister acknowledged resistance from the BRS but reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of the people and preventing the kind of neglect experienced under previous administrations. The event served as a powerful display of the Congress government’s commitment to Telangana’s cultural identity and a clear rejection of the policies of its predecessor.
