Tue Dec 10 05:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Minister Slams BRS, Highlights Congress Achievements
**Hyderabad, December 9, 2024** – Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), describing the party’s decade-long rule as a failure. He claimed the public issued a “discharge sheet” to the BRS a year ago, reflecting their dissatisfaction with the government’s performance.
Reddy’s comments came in response to the BRS’s charges against the Congress party. Speaking at a press conference following the release of a progress report on the Revenue, Housing, and Information departments, Reddy accused the BRS of misusing police resources, tapping phones of opposition leaders, and accepting bribes. He characterized Chief Minister KCR as a “modern-day Tuglaq,” criticizing his governance style and alleged detachment from the public.
The minister highlighted the Congress government’s achievements, particularly in resolving land-related issues. He announced that 4.68 lakh pending Dharani portal applications have been processed, exceeding expectations. A special drive cleared 1.38 lakh applications, and the improved efficiency led to a further 3.16 lakh new applications. He also criticized the BRS’s dismantling of the Village Revenue Officer (VRO) and Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) system, hindering access to revenue services in rural areas. Reddy promised a decision within two to three days on the revitalization of the revenue system and the introduction of a new revenue act in the upcoming assembly sessions. The Congress government also aims to construct 20 lakh Indira Kranti Patham houses over the next four years, starting with 5 lakh houses this year. Further, 34,544 incomplete double-bedroom houses will be completed at a cost of Rs 305 crore.
