**Dubai, UAE –** The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to announce the venue for the 2025 Champions Trophy by Wednesday, sources revealed Monday. The decision follows a protracted standoff between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over India’s participation.
The BCCI has informed the ICC that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan due to the Indian government’s policy. In response, the PCB has proposed a hybrid model, with India playing its matches, including the semi-finals and final, in Dubai. The remaining matches would be held in Pakistan. However, the PCB is seeking written assurance from the ICC regarding the use of a hybrid model for future ICC tournaments hosted in both countries.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday to discuss the matter before agreeing to the compromise. The Emirates Cricket Board is reportedly poised to host India’s matches in Dubai.
The tournament, scheduled for February 19th to March 9th, 2025, will feature eight teams competing in a group stage followed by semi-finals and a final. This situation echoes last year’s Asia Cup, which also employed a hybrid model due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan.
