**Los Angeles, CA** – Payal Kapadia’s debut feature film, “All We Imagine As Light,” has received two Golden Globe nominations: Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language and Best Director. The film, a Malayalam-Hindi language production, tells the story of three working women in Mumbai.
Kapadia, who previously won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, will compete against prominent directors including Brady Corbet, Coralie Fargeat, Edward Berger, Jacques Audiard, and Sean Baker for the Best Director award. In the Best Motion Picture category, “All We Imagine As Light” faces competition from “Emilia Perez,” “The Girl With The Needle,” “I’m Still Here,” “The Seed of The Sacred Fig,” and “Vermiglio.”
The film, starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, Hridhu Haroon, and Azees Nedumangad, explores the challenges and triumphs of female friendship amidst the complexities of urban life. While it lost out on representing India at the Oscars, “All We Imagine As Light” is expected to contend for nominations as an independent entry.
