Tue Dec 10 02:49:17 UTC 2024: ## Noida International Airport Set for Crucial Flight Validation Test

**Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, India –** Noida International Airport (NIA) is on track for its April 2025 commercial launch, with a crucial flight validation test scheduled for Monday, December 9th. A flight originating from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will conduct a 90-minute test flight over the Jewar airport site, assessing critical systems.

The test, overseen by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Ministry of Civil Aviation officials, will evaluate runway performance, airspace coordination, communication protocols, and emergency response capabilities. Data collected will be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for review, with the aim of securing an aerodrome license by December 15th.

Shailendra Bhatia, NIAL’s nodal officer, confirmed that the test, originally planned for November 15th, will include both landing and take-off procedures. Following the AAI’s test, airlines like Akasa and Indigo are expected to conduct their own trial runs.

This milestone builds on the successful October 2024 calibration of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), ensuring safe landings even in low visibility. The airport’s 38-meter Air Traffic Control tower is complete, and its communication systems will be tested during the trial.

The first phase of the Noida International Airport project, a Rs 10,056 crore investment, is over 85% complete. The terminal building is nearing completion, with equipment installation imminent. The airport, spanning 1,334 hectares, is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually in its first phase. Zurich International AG will manage the airport for the next 40 years.

NIAL has emphasized the April 17, 2025, deadline for commercial operations, directing the concessionaire to expedite construction to ensure readiness for both domestic and international flights. “We have directed the concessionaire to ensure that commercial operations begin by the end of April 2025. All clearances and flight trials are progressing as planned,” Bhatia stated.
