Mon Dec 09 18:20:00 UTC 2024: **Mega Brother Nagababu to be Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Minister**
VIJAYAWADA, [Date] – In a surprise move, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced that Nagababu, brother of actor Chiranjeevi and uncle of actor Pawan Kalyan, will be inducted into the state cabinet. Nagababu will be sworn in as a cabinet minister shortly.
The announcement came as the ruling coalition announced three Rajya Sabha candidates. This appointment fills one of the remaining cabinet positions; the state currently has 24 ministers out of a possible 25. The coalition agreement allots four cabinet positions to Jana Sena (Pawan Kalyan’s party) and one to BJP. With Pawan Kalyan, K. Durga Prasad, and Nadeendla Manohar already serving as ministers, Nagababu will fill the remaining Jana Sena quota.
This appointment makes the Konidela family unique in having three members – Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, and now Nagababu – holding significant political positions. Chiranjeevi previously served as a Minister of State for Tourism in the Manmohan Singh government, while Pawan Kalyan currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister. It is expected that Nagababu will be assigned a key ministerial portfolio.
Currently not an MLA, Nagababu will be nominated to the Legislative Council before taking office as a Minister. The coalition also announced their Rajya Sabha candidates: B.M. Raju and Sana Satish from TDP, and R. Krishnaiah from BJP. Their nominations are uncontested and will be filed tomorrow.
