Mon Dec 09 18:20:00 UTC 2024: **Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Expansion and Rajya Sabha Nominations Announced**

AMARAVATI, Andhra Pradesh – Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced on Monday the inclusion of Jana Sena Party General Secretary K. Nagababu into the state cabinet. This decision followed a request from Jana Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who is Nagababu’s brother. While the exact timing of Nagababu’s swearing-in and potential appointment to the Legislative Council (MLC) remains unclear, it is expected to fill a current cabinet vacancy.

Naidu also announced the names of the three candidates nominated by the ruling alliance for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections: Bida Mastan Rao and Sana Satish Babu from the TDP, and R. Krishnaiah from the BJP. The nominations are considered a formality, as the YSRCP, which has insufficient numbers to nominate a candidate, did not participate in the process. These three individuals are replacing outgoing Rajya Sabha members who have recently resigned. Krishnaiah, a prominent BC rights advocate, previously served as an MLA. Mastan Rao, a successful industrialist, has a history in local politics. Sana Satish Babu, previously a government employee and now a businessman, is a relatively new entrant into politics. The final day for filing nominations is Tuesday.
