**MUMBAI, INDIA** – A BEST electric bus accident in Kurla, Mumbai, has resulted in six deaths and 49 injuries, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The incident occurred Monday night around 9:50 pm when the bus, operating on Route 332, veered off the road near Kurla railway station, mounting a footpath and colliding with several vehicles and pedestrians.

The driver, Sanjay More, has been arrested and an FIR registered. Police closed Kurla Station Road to traffic following the accident. The deceased were treated at various hospitals across the city, including Bhabha Hospital, Kohinoor Hospital, Habib Hospital, and Seven Hills Hospital. The injured are receiving treatment at these facilities and others.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that 35 injured were admitted to Bhabha Hospital alone, with two fatalities at the scene and two more succumbing to their injuries later. Kohinoor Hospital treated three, with one death and two critical patients. Habib Hospital reported one death and five injured patients. Four injured police officers admitted to Seven Hills Hospital are reported to be stable.

The BEST undertaking announced that several bus routes will be affected, with diversions implemented on routes 37, 320, 319, 325, 330, 365, 446, 311, 313, 318, and 310.
